Oroande vallokalsundersökning i London

De undersökningar som gjorts utanför vallokalerna i London tyder på att den konservativa kandidaten Boris Johnson kommer att vinna borgmästarvalet. Inte för att ”vänster”kandidaten Ken Livingstone är så mycket vänster, men Johnson är snäppet värre. Så här står det i Guardian:

Boris Johnson is on course to win the London mayoral elections, although with a narrower lead than previously predicted, according to a poll published today.

The final YouGov poll for the Evening Standard gave the Conservative candidate a lead of seven points on first-preference votes over the mayor, Ken Livingstone, down from an 11-point lead earlier in the week.

It said 43% of voters were going to back Johnson with their first vote, and 36% supported Livingstone. After the re-allocation of second-preference votes, it predicted a Johnson victory by 53% to 47%.

Det är oroanade att det ser ut att bli en högerseger i London. Något som komemr att göra det redan svåra livet för fattiga Londonbor ännu svårare. I och för sig är det inte Londons borgsmästare som bestämmer det mesta utan det är de lokala kommunernas ledning som gör det. Men betydelse har det och över kollektivtrafik och liknande har borgmästarämbetet inflytande.

En vänsterskribent i Guardian beskriver den trolige vinnaren Johnson som en bigott homofob och rasistisk lögnare:

Two mistakes we make about Boris: the first is that, because he says ”unacceptable” things, then he must be honest; he must be outside the airless bubble of PC. This is bilge. He is no more honest than any other philanderer before him. He has lied flagrantly, flamboyantly, to save his marriage, and given how little else he’s prepared to do for it, one must conclude that he doesn’t put a very great premium on telling the truth. So if he gives out these apparently harsh truths about gay people or Liverpudlians or the people of Congo, it is not because the fire of truth burns so brightly within him that he can’t snuff it out. It is because he genuinely despises these people. He despises gays and he despises provincials (you are all right with Boris if you come from Liverpool but don’t sound like a Liverpudlian. Once you’ve been to public school, then you are from postcode POSH), and he despises Africans. He despises them, and he despises those of us who would hold such judgments to be bigoted and inhuman.

Det verkar inte så kul att en sån person ska bli borgmästare i London. Inte alls kul. Och ett nerköp för miljön och för fattiga Londonbor.
